The honest answer to “how much does a trophy cost in Malaysia” is: it depends, but probably less than you fear and slightly more than the cheapest Shopee listing. We get this question on WhatsApp every day, and the person asking usually wants a real number, not a brochure.
So here’s the real number — broken down by material, size, and quantity, the way we actually quote in our Kuchai Lama workshop. No mystery, no “request a quote to see prices” runaround.
Price ranges by material
Material does most of the heavy lifting on price. A small crystal piece will out-cost a large plastic one almost every time. Here’s what each material lives in for a single, custom-engraved unit:
- Plastic trophies — RM30 to RM150. Tournament workhorses. Lightweight, durable, the right call when you need 50 to 500 pieces for a school sports day or a kids’ badminton open.
- Acrylic trophies — RM50 to RM300. Modern, full-colour-print friendly, custom shapes possible. The mid-tier sweet spot for corporate quarterly awards and esports.
- Metal trophies — RM80 to RM400. Cups, bowls, pewter pieces. Heavy in the hand, traditional, perpetual-trophy material.
- Wooden trophies — RM150 to RM500. Solid wood bases with engraved metal plaques. Conservative, premium, GLC-friendly.
- Crystal trophies — RM150 to RM700. The flagship category. Optical clarity, refracts light, photographs beautifully on a gala stage.
Material picks the bracket. Size, complexity, and quantity then nudge you up or down within that bracket — but no amount of “small size” will get a crystal piece down to plastic prices, and no amount of “large size” will push a plastic piece into crystal territory.
Browse the live ranges by category — crystal trophies, acrylic trophies, metal trophies, and plastic trophies — and you’ll see how those brackets play out across our actual stock.
What actually drives the price up
Within a material, four things move the number:
- Size and weight. A 35cm trophy uses more material, more shipping volume, and more engraving area than a 20cm trophy. Expect a 30-60% jump as you climb the size ladder.
- Complexity of the engraving. A name and date is included. A full company logo plus a multi-line citation plus a year is still included on most pieces — but if the logo needs vector recreation from a low-res JPG, that’s real artwork time.
- Custom shape. Stock blank acrylic at RM80; CNC-cut custom silhouette of your brand mark in acrylic at RM180. The CNC time is real.
- Hybrid materials. Crystal with a metal accent, or acrylic on a wooden base, sits above the price of either component on its own.
Realistic bulk discount tiers
Trophy pricing in Malaysia is fundamentally a quantity game. Our typical discount steps:
- 1 to 9 pieces — list price. Single trophies are made one at a time and there’s no economy of scale.
- 10 to 19 pieces — small discount, typically 5-8%.
- 20 to 49 pieces — meaningful tier. Usually 10-15% off list, with engraving still included.
- 50 to 99 pieces — 15-20% off list. We’re now batching engraving runs and shipping is consolidated.
- 100+ pieces — proper bulk pricing, often 20-30% off list, with same-day rush waived.
For tournament organisers and PIBG bursars, the math usually means: bumping your order from 40 to 50 pieces often costs only a little more, because you cross a discount line. Always ask us where the next tier sits.
What a “RM150 trophy” actually looks like
The RM150 mark is interesting because it sits at the top of plastic, the middle of acrylic, the bottom of crystal, and the bottom of wood. Same number, four very different objects:
- RM150 plastic — a large, multi-tier tournament trophy, 35-45cm tall, with a sport-specific figure on top. Looks impressive on a podium.
- RM150 acrylic — a clean modern piece, 20-25cm, with full-colour UV-printed logo and laser-engraved citation. Looks at home on a gala-dinner table.
- RM150 crystal — an entry-level optical crystal piece, 15-18cm, with deep laser-etched logo and name. The lightest crystal in the range, but still feels substantial.
- RM150 wood — a small wooden trophy with engraved metal plaque, suited for long-service or a top-student award.
Same budget, four different stories. The right choice depends on what the recipient is meant to feel when they hold it.
When to splurge, when to save
Here’s the honest rule we share with clients on WhatsApp:
- Splurge when the award is the centrepiece of the moment — a 25-year long-service, a chairman’s award, a national-level championship MVP. These are kept for decades.
- Sit middle when you’re recognising a cohort — quarterly top performers, regional contest winners, MSSD finalists. The piece needs to feel earned, not extravagant.
- Save when volume is the point — sports days, fun-runs, school co-curricular nights, kids’ tournaments. The participation matters more than the metal.
If you’re not sure which bracket fits your event, our find-my-trophy quiz walks through the question in about a minute and lands on a real recommendation.
Hidden costs to watch for
Most quotes include engraving and a presentation box. The line items that sometimes catch first-time buyers off guard:
- Rush turnaround. Standard lead time is 5-10 working days. Rush — 1 to 3 days — typically adds RM50 to RM200 depending on quantity.
- Pos Laju or J&T shipping. Klang Valley deliveries are inexpensive (RM10-25); East Malaysia adds more, especially on heavier crystal or metal pieces.
- Logo vectorisation. If we have to redraw your logo from a JPG to a clean vector, that’s real artwork time — usually a one-time RM50-150 charge that you keep on file for future orders.
- Custom packaging. Standard presentation boxes are included. Branded gift sleeves or co-printed boxes are extra.
We always quote these openly upfront. If you want a real number for your specific brief, WhatsApp our KL workshop and we’ll price it the same day.
A worked example: a 30-piece corporate order
To make the numbers tangible, here’s a real-shape order we quoted recently for a Klang Valley GLC’s annual dinner:
- 10 long-service crystal trophies (5/10/15-year tiers, 3 different sizes) — RM250 average — RM2,500
- 6 top-performer crystal pieces — RM280 each — RM1,680
- 4 leadership wooden plaques — RM240 each — RM960
- 8 acrylic team awards — RM160 each — RM1,280
- 1 chairman’s award (premium custom crystal) — RM850
- 1 lifetime achievement (premium crystal with metal accent) — RM950
- Engraving included on all pieces
- Klang Valley delivery — RM45
- Total — ~RM8,265 across 30 pieces
That averages RM275 per piece across a properly differentiated programme. A flat order of 30 identical RM280 crystals would have cost roughly the same — for materially less recognition impact across categories. Differentiation is free; you just have to plan for it.
How to brief us for a fast quote
The quotes that come back fastest are the briefs that include:
- Quantity — total pieces, plus any tier breakdown.
- Event context — annual dinner / sports day / long-service / customer appreciation.
- Material preference — or “open to suggestions” if you want our recommendation.
- Budget guide — even rough (“around RM5,000 total”) helps massively.
- Lead time — when you need delivery by.
- Logo file — vector ideally; we’ll work with what you have.
A WhatsApp message in that shape gets a real itemised quote back the same business day. If you’d rather see materials in person before deciding, drop by our Brem Park workshop — samples of every material on the shelf.
Common questions
What’s the cheapest custom trophy you make? Around RM30-40 for a small plastic trophy with engraved name plate, in moderate quantity. Below that you’re looking at uncustomised participation medals.
Do trophy prices in KL differ from JB or Penang? Production cost is the same — we ship nationwide from KL. Pos Laju and J&T charges scale with distance and weight, so a heavy crystal piece to East Malaysia carries a real shipping line item.
Is engraving included or extra? Included on every piece in our range. We’ve never charged separately for standard text engraving, and we’re not going to start.
How fast can I get a trophy? Stock pieces with simple engraving can be done in 1-3 working days for Klang Valley pickup. Custom logos, custom shapes, or large quantities run 5-10 working days. Talk to us early on big briefs.
“A RM150 trophy doesn't mean cheap — it means we picked the right material for the moment.”
