About metal plaques

Metal plaques are precision-engraved into solid metal:

  • Anodised aluminium for indoor pieces
  • Brass and stainless steel for outdoor or high-traffic installations

The process: our long-time Malaysian production partners rotary-engrave the design. That gives a permanently incised mark that won't fade like printed alternatives.

Mounting options: flush-fit screws, stand-off chrome bushings, or full backing frames — depending on whether the plaque goes on a wall, a building exterior, or a presentation case.

Who usually buys these

Built for institutional commissions:

  • Facilities managers
  • Architects and developers
  • Building dedications
  • Donor walls
  • Room-naming plates
  • Memorial plaques
  • Machinery-asset tags

We also supply corporate clients who need recognition plaques that will outlive the recipient's career. Acrylic and wood don't last decades outdoors. Engraved metal does.

Customization options

Standard finishes:

  • Anodised black
  • Anodised silver
  • Brushed brass
  • Polished brass
  • Brushed stainless steel

Colour fill: black or white for high contrast on text.

Detail: logos engrave down to fine detail. Architectural lockup marks reproduce accurately.

Sizing: custom is routine. Anything from a 50mm asset tag up to large building-dedication plaques with multi-panel layout.

Common events

Outdoor signage that needs to stay legible for decades:

  • Building dedications
  • Room-naming plaques
  • Donor-recognition walls
  • Memorial plaques
  • Machinery and asset tagging
  • Foundation-stone inscriptions
  • Mosque and surau dedications

Also used for premium corporate wall awards where the longevity message itself is part of the gift.

Ordering and turnaround

Turnaround: 7-10 working days from artwork sign-off — engraving depth and finishing steps take time. Outdoor and large-format plaques may need longer. Confirm on WhatsApp.

Courier: Pos Laju and J&T cover Malaysia-wide delivery in 1-3 days local, 3-5 days nationwide. Oversize plaques ship via freight courier with separate quote.

To order: WhatsApp +60 12 213 6631 with size, finish, and artwork.

Metal Plaques in Malaysia — A Buyer's Guide for Building Openings, Perasmian, Donor Walls & Formal Dedications

When the moment has to last for decades — a perasmian by a minister or VIP, a foundation-stone laying, a surau or office opening, a donor wall, a committee long-service tribute — a metal plaque carries a weight that acrylic and wood can't. Brass, stainless steel, and anodised aluminium, either rotary-engraved for a permanently incised mark or fitted as a framed presentation piece on velvet. Pricing lands at RM150-800+ per piece. This guide covers building-opening conventions, brass finishes, wall mounting, bilingual and Jawi engraving, and the formal wording that gets the proof right first time. Engraving is free; you pay only the courier.

Why metal for openings, dedications and donor recognition

Metal plaques are what you reach for when the recognition is meant to outlive everyone in the room.

Where metal is the convention:

  • Building and office openings (perasmian)
  • Foundation-stone and ground-breaking plaques
  • Surau, mosque, temple and church committee dedications
  • Donor-recognition walls
  • Room-naming and ward-naming plates
  • Committee long-service and founder tributes

Two formats cover almost every brief. Framed presentation plaques — a gold or silver metal plate on velvet, set in a metal or wood frame, RM150-432 in our catalogue — suit indoor ceremonial handovers and office display. Rotary-engraved brass or stainless — a permanently incised mark, no print to fade — is the pick for outdoor walls, foundation stones, and anything that has to read clearly for decades.

The formal register is the point. Metal reads as institutional, permanent, official — exactly the tone a perasmian or a donor wall needs.

Brass, stainless steel, anodised aluminium — picking the metal

Three metals cover the category, each with its own register.

Brass is the classic dedication metal. Warm gold tone, traditional, the default for perasmian plates, foundation stones, and heritage pieces. Available polished (bright, ceremonial) or brushed/satin (softer, modern). Outdoor-rated when properly lacquered. The right read for institutional and government dedications.

Stainless steel is the contemporary pick — cool silver tone, brushed or mirror finish, highly weather-resistant. Suits modern corporate buildings, hospital ward plates, and donor walls where a clean technical look matters more than heritage warmth.

Anodised aluminium is the value tier for indoor pieces and asset/room-naming plates — anodised black or silver, light, and crisp under colour-fill. Not the pick for an outdoor foundation stone, but ideal for indoor room-naming and committee plates in volume.

Colour fill: black or white infill lifts text and logos to high contrast on any of the three. We brief the finish to suit the wall, not the other way round.

Perasmian conventions and formal wording

A building-opening plaque follows a fairly fixed Malaysian convention, and getting the wording right matters more than the metal.

Standard perasmian layout (BM):

  • A line such as "Perasmian" or "Majlis Perasmian" at the top
  • The building or facility name
  • "Telah dirasmikan oleh" (officiated by) followed by the VIP's full name and honorifics — YB, Dato', Datuk, Tan Sri, Tun, exactly as gazetted
  • The VIP's designation
  • The date, often in BM ("pada ... haribulan ...")
  • Optionally the organisation logo or state crest

The honorific is the high-risk line. A mis-spelled Datuk title or a wrong designation on a permanent plate means a recut, not an edit. We proof the full title twice before engraving.

For donor walls and committee plaques, keep citation text tight — a name, a role, a year reads more dignified than a paragraph. Send us the draft; we'll typeset and proof it before anything is cut.

Bilingual, Jawi and multi-script engraving

Malaysian metal plaques are very often bilingual, and metal handles it cleanly.

BM + English is the common pair for corporate and institutional pieces. Government, GLC and council plaques usually run Bahasa Melayu on top, English below; corporate brands sometimes invert. Either reads well if the layout is locked early — tell us the priority language up front.

Jawi is standard for surau, mosque, and Islamic-institution dedications, and increasingly seen on official state plaques. We typeset Jawi properly (right-to-left, correct letterforms) and send a proof — important, because Jawi rendered from the wrong font is a common and embarrassing error.

Mandarin and Tamil appear on temple, church, school and community plaques. We handle all four scripts.

Free, every script. Bilingual or tri-lingual engraving is included in the per-piece price — we never charge per language. Send the text in each script (or tell us the source and we'll arrange the translation brief) and we proof the full layout before cutting.

Mounting, sizing, lead time and how to order

Mounting options:

  • Flush screws — countersunk, simplest, for indoor walls and asset plates
  • Stainless standoffs — the plaque floats off the wall on chrome bushings, the premium ceremonial look for lobbies and donor walls
  • Framed / easel — our framed presentation plaques sit on a desk easel or hang, ideal for indoor handover pieces
  • Foundation-stone fixing — brief us the stone and we spec the fixing

Sizing: framed presentation plaques run from 160 x 210mm (RM151.50) through A4-format 300 x 210mm (RM175.50) to A3 300 x 420mm (RM432). Box-depth pieces (35mm) land around RM189. Larger engraved building plaques and multi-panel donor walls are quoted on the brief.

Lead time: about a week to 7-10 working days from artwork sign-off for standard pieces. Large-format engraved building plaques and donor walls may need longer — confirm on WhatsApp.

To order: WhatsApp +60 12-213 6631 with size, finish, wording (all scripts), and your ceremony date. Brief perasmian pieces at least 2 weeks ahead so we can proof the VIP title properly. Courier nationwide from our Brem Park studio in KL; oversize plaques ship by freight with a separate quote.

Frequently asked about Metal Plaques

  • Are metal plaques suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes — we use brass and stainless steel for outdoor and high-traffic installations. Anodised aluminium is the right choice for indoor use. Confirm the installation environment on WhatsApp and we will recommend the right material and finish for the location.
  • Can you produce building-dedication plaques in larger sizes?
Yes. We have produced multi-panel building dedications well over 600mm wide. Larger plaques may use multiple bolted-together panels for transport and on-site installation. Send your wording, finish preference, and intended mounting location for a custom quote.
  • How long does an engraved metal plaque last?
Decades, with the right material choice. Indoor anodised aluminium engravings stay legible essentially indefinitely. Outdoor brass develops a natural patina over years that many clients prefer; stainless steel stays bright. Either way, the engraving itself is incised into the metal and does not fade like printed alternatives.
  • How long does production take?
Acrylic and metal pieces (trophies, plaques, medals) run 7-10 working days from artwork confirmation; pewter runs 7-14 working days. Wood is made to order in about a week, with a 10-piece minimum. Crystal pieces are ready-made and turn around within a week. Tight deadlines — WhatsApp us with the date and we will tell you straight whether we can fit it.
  • Can I customise the design?
Yes. Send us your logo (vector preferred — SVG, EPS, or AI), your engraving text, and any layout notes via WhatsApp. Our designers can help with the layout too — included free with every order.
  • Do you ship to East Malaysia or Singapore?
Yes. Nationwide within Malaysia: 1-3 days to Klang Valley, 3-5 days to East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak). Singapore on request — usually 5-7 days. Couriers we use: Pos Laju, J&T, DHL.
  • How do I order?
WhatsApp us with the product link, your engraving text, and quantity. We confirm pricing, lead time, and payment method (bank transfer, online banking, or e-wallet). You approve, we engrave and ship. That is it — no online checkout.
